Polar Bear Beach Portrait

This image is really special to me, a trip to Kaktovik Alaska. The villagers had just harvested a bow-head whale and brought the scraps, carcass & whale bones out of town to a peninsula on the Beaufort Sea that is called the "Whale Boneyard. This sow and her cubs just finished foraging on the carcass. One cub looked directly at me, then the other threw it's head over the other and looked and the mother then followed suit. I received recognition from National Geographic Your Shot on the Daily Dozen on December 14th, 2016
