Wild Florida

The winter month's of Florida, when the temperatures finally drop and the birds begin to change their plumage. I get outdoors as much as possible. I will be traveling the perimeter of Florida in search of some usual suspects along with some new and interesting subjects. Please enjoy my captures of Florida wildlife. DTurko

I don't know about you, I cannot pass up on a kingfisher with catch light in the eye. This beautiful male, with a nice position showing me a nice profile view.

  • Snowy Egret

Early am right at sunrise, a nice layer of clouds yield a pink reflection on the water for this beautiful snowy egret.

Cruising rapidly down a estuary in Merritt Island NWR this black skimmer is looking to snag a fish.

  • Cinnamon Teal

    Cinnamon Teal

Trying to get as many colors on the wing from this cinnamon teal, I take the only shot that is available at the time, from behind. What a gorgeous duck these teals are.

  • Roseate Spoonbill Reflection

    Roseate Spoonbill Reflection

This beautiful roseate spoonbill reflection seems so peaceful to me. Dead calm, not one ripple on the water.

  • Glossy Reflection

    Glossy Reflection

With a nice reflection on a still morning, this glossy ibis procures what appears to be a small stone crab for it's breakfast.

    Glossy Ibis

This glossy ibis appears to have captured a nice lunch compliments of this unfortunate stone crab. I was very excited to see this in the wild, I couldn't help to feel for the crab, just trying to survive, it ends up being lunch.

  • Snowy Egret

    Snowy Egret

Snowy egret engaged in the art of hunting minnows and small crustaceans. I observed this isolated egret eating successfully for about an hour, this bird will live to die another day. In the wild, eat or be eaten, it's a jungle out there.

  • Double Crested Cormorant

    Double Crested Cormorant

I recently purchased the new Canon R5, this cormorant was a worthy subject to try the new animal eye focusing system on. Little did I know at the time, this common double crested cormorant would be so photogenic. In full breeding plumage, I was awe inspired when I processed the image. Still debating which Crop I like the best?

    Green Heron

Green heron hunt's at Circle B Bar Reserve at the same time checks for predators. I love this image due to the perspective, getting an up close and personal look at it's everyday life, the eye is focused high, being cautious, I'm the least of it's worries.
