Leaping Doe

This very young doe was displaying her leaping ability along with her speed in Big Meadow, Shenandoah NP. The squiggly line I determined was starting at her mouth and what appears to be saliva streaming out and creating a very unique design trailing behind and all around her. The fast action of the camera is able to freeze her acrobatics in mid air, adding the Blue Ridge mountains in the background.

This buck was showing its power by shredding up some sage brush, the doe's were impressed.

This piebald deer has blessed us with it beautiful appearance for 2 and one half years now, going on three. It was born in the spring of 2015, most locals were thinking it would not make it. One of our favorite deer's that we look forward to seeing on our property. It is however a misfit for the other deer, just like Rudolph was this situation is no different with the other deer. To the best of my knowledge, this adult doe in the background is it's mother, and has remained steadfast and loyal, not abandoning her offspring.
